Overview - 2008

I. Introduction - The American Council for Construction Education is proud to collaborate with the Regnier Family Foundation to formulate a preeminent national award recognizing excellence in academic performance by Construction Science and Management students from across the United States.  This award is named for Victor L. Regnier to recognize his commitment to the personal and intellectual development of young people in the construction industry.

II. Purpose - The purpose of the Regnier Traveling Fellowship is to allow graduates of ACCE-accredited construction education programs in the United States the ability to pursue the knowledge and experiences of the built environment through an international independent study program traveling abroad. The American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) will administer this award.

III. Nomination Deadline and Procedures -

a. Materials submission deadline: MONDAY, January 7, 2008;
b. Candidate must submit components as outlined in the Submission Requirements document;
c. Intension is to award one fellowship. ACCE reserves the right to choose not to award as selection committee deems appropriate.

IV. Eligibility - to be eligible, each candidate must meet the following qualifications:

a. Graduate from an ACCE-accredited Construction Management Program with a Bachelors of Science degree in Construction Management;
b. US school attendance is a must; US citizenship is not required;
c. Intend to pursue a construction related career (i.e. constructor, educator, research, sales, manufacturing);

V. Submission Requirements -

a. Outlined in the Submission Requirements document;
b. Must be received by January 7, 2008;
c. One (1) original and six (6) copies of all required documents.  All copies are to be assembled.

VI. Award - A fellowship of $20,000 will be awarded, consisting of $18,000 for travel and other expenses in conjunction with the purpose of the Fellowship and $2,000 upon receipt of a final report/presentation acceptable to ACCE.
